While I will normally only be posting once a week, I want to write a bit more often while I build some content. This way, you won’t visit my blog and be limited on reading material!
Today’s topic is on my detachment from Hollywood (and you’ll quickly realize how big of a deal this was for me!). As a Gen-X’er, I was fed a steady diet of microwave cheeseburgers and some of the greatest music and movies of all time (in my opinion). I often return to some of my favorite films, and find them every bit as comforting as a tuna noodle casserole on a rainy fall evening.
But how can I watch my tried and true favorites when the actors in those films have railed against Christian conservatives? I’ve always been bold, but after Charlie Kirk’s death, I’m that much more dug into my beliefs…and part of that is speaking truth! That is why I’m not afraid to share with you what I’ve learned about some of our favorite A-list Hollywood actors.
3 Hollywood Actors Who Have Publicly Bashed Christians
(Though there are many, many more)

- Jamie Lee Curtis: Ladies, this one hits me hard. I’ve been a lifelong fan of Jamie Lee Curtis…until recent years. It seemed like every time I watched an interview with her, she continued to put her foot in her mouth. I finally stopped clicking on any articles mentioning her, and refused to watch any video interviews in an effort to preserve the inkling of respect I still had for Jamie. That was until I heard her “grieve” Charlie Kirk’s assassination. Through crocodile tears, she said, “I disagreed with him on almost every point I ever heard him say, but…”

What did you disagree with Charlie about, Jamie Lee Curtis? That Jesus is the Son of God? The Way, the Truth, and the Life? That no one gets to the Father except through Him? That marriage is between a man and a woman? Or—most obviously since Jamie has a trans son—that humans are born male or female, and nothing changes that?

2. Amanda Seyfried: If you think I’m going to miss Mamma Mia, Dear John, and Mean Girls (very nostalgic if you have a daughter of a certain age who you used to watch it with and laugh hysterically) then you’re absolutely right! But did you see what she said immediately after the news broke of Charlie Kirk’s assassination? No? OK, I’m happy to show you.

Excuse me, Amanda, but not only were your comments unnecessary, completely false, divisive, and cruel, they were also ill-timed. The man—who did more for humanity that you ever will—wasn’t even buried yet. He was a husband, a father, and a HUMAN. Isn’t respect for a fellow human’s murder common sense 101?
3. Stephen King: I know he’s an author, but he’s done some acting over the years. Plus, he’s important to mention because so many of his books have been adapted to film. I hate (now) to say it, but his are among my all-time favorites. The Shawshank Redemption (which has always been what I considered the finest film of all time), Stand by Me (holds especially sentimental regard for me), and so many others will be missed—though not as much as you think after learning his truly evil heart. Here was his reaction to Charlie Kirk’s brutal, senseless slaying.

Stephen King eventually tried to walk back his comments, but how do you really unsee his true heart? The black heart that said what he did to begin with, not the “oops” heart that was nothing more than a way to greedily hold onto fans who keep his lights on. King has a gay “preacher” daughter, so that explains it.
**I love my kids, but I wouldn’t sell my soul to protect their sinful lifestyle. What favor would I be doing them if I did?
I could go on and on. It doesn’t take long to see how vehemently Hollywood (including the music industry) hates Christian conservatives. I used to be able to compartmentalize actors and musicians, and still enjoy their “art.” But now, no way! Social media has naturally allowed their hateful, evil, wicked hearts to rise up out of their mouths and spew their vitriol all over the internet.
They don’t mind that by mocking a prominent Christian conservative like Charlie Kirk, that they are offending the 2.4 billion people worldwide who identify as Christians. How about when they (and by “they” I mean almost ALL of Hollywood) mock President Donald Trump? Most of them, frankly, do more than mock him. They incite feelings of violence in their minion fans.
No one can assuredly say that “news” outlets, late-night talk show hosts, morning talk show hosts (hello…The View??), actors, singers, and other celebrities, have not been the straw that broke the camel’s back when it comes to assassinations, assassination attempts, vandalism, protest, and all forms of violence (even verbal attacks). Words matter.

So, I don’t know about you, but I am done with most of Hollywood. I’ll be checking authors, podcasters, actors, singers, and so on, before I pull out my pocketbook or even give my time to something. Yes, authors.
Did you hear what Jodi Picoult had a meltdown against Republicans in mourning over Charlie Kirk’s murder. Anyone up for a Jodi Picoult book burning? Luckily, I got rid of mine years ago. Her content is sickening.

Of course, if I’m truly desiring to be a godly woman (and I am!), then I need to suggest we all pray for these people. So, yes. Pray. Hard and often. They—and all of Hollywood—need the prayers of warrior women like us. No one was ever healed with hate.

As always, let’s discuss this on Facebook! Don’t be shy—everyone in The After Club is aligned with your Christian beliefs (though there may be minor differences we can discuss). Let’s get a conversation going!
I love your blogs. Uplifting.
I’m very disappointed by Hollywood but I try to separate the two. And I rarely support new Hollywood pictures.
